Very nice work! The beats are even vintage tone but modern rhythm. Think the 808 would have gone out of style if anyone was using it at 140+bpm in 83? Probably but we have the time to ponder that kind of thing right now.
Cool stuff. Wonder if anyone has stripboard plans for a 2600? No? Couldn’t hurt to ask.
You mean like a whole ARP 2600 system? That would be quite an emulation.
Yup! The stranger things composers used one and behringer have a clone coming out but despite the size it’s not that complicated a flow.
Just had the whim that a stripboard version might be fun to make. And who doesn’t like a bank of slidey pots?
This is one of the bands Ive been playing in for the last 20+ years. Also one of the reasons I am here on this website and forum. When we toured for the last vinyl release we discussed pressing and releasing an even older record (1998) and playing more shows in support. SOOOO I wanted to change my setup and make my own synth to write some of the bass and guitar parts into synth parts. Yeah, now that I have all this time to put this thing together and arrange it to a live/tour format I will share a little bit more about the experience as we go.

Here is a song I wrote 2012 which I think is fitting for our current situation.
Might hafta turn it up. My laptop speakers suck lol.
First time really playing with Voltage Modular.
Oh I’d never heard of Voltage Modular. They’re now giving away Voltage Modular Nucleus for Windows and OSX free to anybody who creates a free account.

I’ve had it for a while! can be quite fun and infuriating at the same time
I took a look at it. It was an easy start, just hook up a LFO and VCO chain, connect to one of the two output channels, and twiddle knobs. Is it easy to connect external MIDI instruments that can be seen by the OS?
That just sounds lovely! I’m getting hints of early Oasis, Parachutes-era Coldplay and Jesus and Mary Chain. Hope none of those are offensive comparisons
I was going to say that one too, so hopefully the comparison is okay!
Any idea how Volca Modular measures up to vcv rack?
One is a small, inexpensive but quite capable Buchla-influenced semi-modular synthesiser by Korg. The other is an open source software project that runs on a computer and emulates a modular synth.
Oh, I’m sorry. I meant to ask: Any idea how Voltage Modular measures up to vcv rack. B.t.w. I know VCV-rack, I wrote 2 plugins for it.
Before the event that Volca modular was a conversion project in the back of my mind. I was thinking to break out the DuPont points to banana jacks and lifting the pots out to a panel about 10 times the size of it, with a variation on one of my capacitive touch plates for the keyboard to have a very cheap Music Easel. Perhaps that will come back around some day…
I had similar plans for the Volca Modular, shelved them for now I have other things (modules builds etc) to work on before that although i did try to use a breadboard as an ‘interface’ between the volca and a jack patchbay, I gave up as it was too fiddly and hard to manipulate the knobs through the rats nest
I’ve not tried other than a control keyboard
