Hi all, me again. So I had the (probably not so bright) idea a few months back to get a Monotron off fleabay, and decided to remove the ribbon controller, and the speaker, so now I’ve got the board, and I don’t know what to do with it. I’m thinking about using it almost as an external filter, but my questions are A) How to power it? B) Is it worth the hassle? C) Am I able to replace the three phase switch to just access the LFO?
I keep seeing mod tutorials on the Duo or Delay, but almost never for the OG.
Hmmm
A) use a regulator and match the battery inputs to the circuit?
B) No. Easier to build from scratch but if you must then you must (pictures please)
C) test to identify which setting gives you power and bridge it then test for your filter.
I’ve only mucked about with a Duo but I’m sure there’s a schema out there.
There are some korg Modding veterans here, any takers? (veteran = done it at least once )
So I found this site: ATARI PUNK CONSOLE + LFO | SOUND BENDER 36
And this achematic
Do you reckon this would be doable?
Very straightforward and reliable as are most soundbender projects.
Hey @Dud , anything to add about your 555 LFO?
You might find this interesting Monotron hack | schollz
I built a whole new synth out of the Monotron based on the MS-X by DJ soulmachine, Monotron schematics are available online along with a board layout and where certain signals are located.
That is a thing of severe beauty!
So with that circuit, where would I put in like, an input or output? Basically I’m thinking of running my Octodrōn (8 Super Simple Oscillators in a box) through this filter, just to make some aural anarchy
Isn’t there a line in socket that goes directly into the filter of the Monotron, surely that’s the place to try. It’s a while since I built that but just checking the schematics it shows a line in socket to the filter.
It’s called the AUX socket
…I may be an idiot…that makes so much more sense…thank you
