Seems to be pretty musical with the ladder filter and keeping the lows intact. I noticed in a few demos how kick drum and bass still had plenty of life in the lower Hz.
Schlappi engineeringâs pannel looks like no sloppy job to me!
So smart, I love the touch pads, although I would have them on an expansion module. I think I would be accidentally hitting them a lot. A touch grid instead of the little nodes.
probably too complex for a module, but Iâve been chewing on the idea of a basic radio/sampler. i would love to capture a low fidelity sound and trigger it repeatedly.
You mean like the Music Thing Radio Music but with an antenna and actual radio?
Iâm sure this has been proposed or could be built individually, but the upcoming Midi to CV module got me thinking about full polyphony. Four VCOs with four filters, etc. I donât think four performance filters is ideal for a situation like this but perhaps something similar and condensed could work.
Taking inspiration from the Quad VCA mix, maybe something like a Quad MS20 Filter Mix could work:
Four filters aligned vertically:
- Top row: Cutoff
- Second row: Resonance
- Third: CV for Cutoff
- Fourth: Input level
- Fifth: Individual out - when used takes the individual filterâs output out of the Mix out
The last column:
- Mega cutoff know that mess with all the filters at once
- Some CV inputs
- A mix out
I donât know. I know very little about this from a technical perspective, but certainly would be fun.
FWIW, even on a poly synth i usually only use one filter per modulation. As in, if i was mixing multiple voices, i would only run that mixed voice through a single filter anyways. Youd just need a bunch of inputs for the mixer in the filter to accomplish this i think, not multiple filters.
The term used for that is âparaphonicâ. Perfectly valid way to go but fully polyphonic synths use a separate entire voice for each note.
Could be done right now that way by running the third and fourth VCO into a mixer and into the filter. I think that would be paraphonic instead of polyphonic, but close enough in the meantime.
Right, my bad.âââââââ
yeah deffo!!! its on! sounds like a great plan
Almost all Kosmo format modular run on FC power bus and the random other power bus makers like Befaco. I admit the Excalibus has been tempting me. Theyâre generally made with 8x2 headers which because Kosmo doesnât need +5V only ends up making the need for some 8x2 to 5x2 cables and extra steps to get +5V working which is never used. Iâve always wanted to request a power bus and until now I didnât think it would be backed with reasons like yeeting 8x2 headers and +5V. A power bus with enough headers for the 2 row case made for Kosmo format has been on my brain. It seems like people are finally done building for 8x2 headers and +5V so why keep these as features?

Itâs simple enough to build an FC Power, Microbus, or Routemaster, or other DIY supply or bus, without the 5V components and with 2x5 headers. Granted, a 2x5 bus board could be made smaller than one with 2x8s. But then, one usually isnât squeezed for bus board space. Maybe a 2x5 supply and bus would be cheaper, though. Not sure that would be motivation enough to put the effort into designing and producing them.
Iâm only vaguely aware that this word exists. What does it mean?
Bitnik,
It means to put something in a catapult or a really strong pitcherâs arm and launch it somewhere. It usually means to âcancelâ something in the common use.

Richard,
It might save on shipping those buses because of the decreased size.

Good word. Iâm going to start using it often in the presence of my two millennial children (both now well into their thirties) in the hope that one or both of them will have to ask me what it means.
Birdie, my daughterâs emotional support coon hound, frequently yeets off the couch, so it works in that sense too. According to my kids, anyway.
Yes, yeet is absolutely usable in that sense. It has had an association with sports so it would be unsurprising to find that while the word was originally used to yell while propelling an object through the air at high speeds, that there would be other uses of the word to yell in victory like a battle cry. The exclamation is usually happy, but can also have a connotation of nervousness.
I think this word is used unironically/ironically. A form of meta modern expression.
I just drew this up and it is NOT TESTED but what could possibly go wrong he asked? Anyway, 12x(2x5) bus board. No Gerbers because I donât want anyone rushing an order off without at least looking at the PCB first! Based on a 2x8 design by tomarus.
Hmm, just realized mounting holes would be good. Will add.
