Hi everyone. Been some time.
Well. Today I spent an entire day troubleshooting this snare. But I just can’t figure it out. I’m missing some specific knowledge I hope some of you might have.
So the problem. The snare just doesn’t sound right, when just listening to the vco’s without noise. I hear a tom instead of a snare. So the decay seems too long.
Normally a bad solderjoint or something is the cause. A diode that isn’t connected right. However I made 3 and they all have the same problem. I even made an extra one, just because I might have put a wrong component in all three? Nope. I checked every part…
I put in a link to the schematic:
I already made some that worked! Some time ago…
So time to learn the schematic. 2 VCO’s put out a triangle which gets a little bit turned into a sine. than a bc547 is used as a vca which gets fed an envelope. This envelope is triggered by the trig high. The part before this in the schematic is a bit more confusing for me. However I’m getting a trigger, as the snare does work as expected. (except for the too long decay)
When trying to change capacitors or resistors in the envelope section, I get no real change in the decay…
Or am I just seeing ghosts? I’ll put in a sound sample so you can judge for yourself.
And… That’s where I am… If anybody knows what I could measure or look at. I would be really grateful.
