Yikes, there’s getting to be a lot of those in the world.
The system looks siiiickkk
I found this smart fellow on Etsy selling these and scooped one up. Fits
great in a eurorack but I’m gonna have to finagle the usb connection somehow.
It’s just me but I would cut off the usb-B end and tack solder to the board. I hate having to make allowances for “standard” jacks and sockets.
With midi DIN female sockets I have often wired up an external female socket so that it hangs out by a stress relief’d cable. It’ll look janky to some but will last much longer than a plate or circuit mounted DIN socket.
Hardwiring it woulda been my next option but fortunately the 90 degree usb b cut the mustard.
I was surprised that a cable with such dimensions existed!
The crazy stuff these kids come up with..
Interesting gadget found at a vintage wireless swapmeet.
I believe it comes from a TV vision mixer: the lever turns the pot through its whole 270° range via a gear, closing the microswitch at the end of travel.
This looks like the controls one finds in airplanes used for setting the engine power.
B.t.w. if you replace all pots in your rack by this type, you can turn your rack into a seriously elaborate slot machine.
I need 40 of these for my next project
Maybe not at that price
my friend donated one of these to our hackspace, very nice
Been a while since I posted in here anything that looks like progress. But, I finally have filled my 1st eurorack row!!
And it was with this chonk of a module!!
VERY fun to play with in the half hour to hour I had to play after I built it haha!
Very quick turn around, delivered today. Built and usable by the night time =D
Not sure I’d put one in a rack, but I did build the Elmyra 2 from NL and quite enjoy it as a standalone synth for sure.
I’m going to be using it as added texture to my drums, so it makes sense to put it where it’s needed.
Still gonna design and print a desktop case for it though, and make a longer 10pin for it.
I did really have fun playing about with it standalone though.
How are you liking Elmyra? It didn’t quite give me that FOMO like Scrooge had.
It’s great. Doesnt get as much action now that I have the Solar 42 - but the much smaller footprint keeps it relevant
NOS. It’s impressive that people were hoarding these for 50+ years, sometimes in an impeccable condition.
Any plans for these tubes?
I just finished a VCA and will build a couple more as I noticed that different tubes give a slightly different response. I also picked quite a few oddball pentodes with very high heater voltage requirements (not surprising that nobody wanted them), so I will see if I can build a couple of amplifiers as well.
