My turn! My pal Mitch’s Chritstmas effort.
This song will always be in my personal top 10
I used to do a live acoustic cover of this using an old classical guitar with super high tension strings and the whole thing dropped to C standard tuning. The bass and brassy top notes rattle out. Good to hear the original again.
Next level is modular test equipment!
ok a warning here , beware there is a reference to 2020 which may trigger fear , loathing , anger or mehh …
My aged Mother was just saying she’s not heard a good Christmas song in ages… so I’ve just forwarded this to her.
thats kinda dark , I like it . my wife says I am awful for loving this holiday season because I don’t have to go anywhere [ covid ] but it is so much less stressful and more time to do what I want to .
We must not look at goblin men,
We must not buy their fruits:
Who knows upon what soil they fed
Their hungry thirsty roots?
(Christina Rossetti, Goblin Market)
Yes, dark can be fun when you’re all snuggled up and warm and all you love are safe.
Edit:
I do wonder about those “invisible gifts” the dwarves spent all year toiling at for the children of the world. A child is defenceless and needs all the help he or she can get, so I like to imagine it’s worth all the toil. I shudder to think what heinous crime Nicholas is being punished for.
No. Nope. Weird Al? I’m drawing a line here. Nuh uh! Not listening. La la la. Is he gone?
Honestly @caustic can we have no standards.
Weird Al , sorry this man is way better than the last showman. at least he gets " it " WEIRD AL 2024 !
Does anyone know how to make the sound that rises and falls in pitch you can hear in this video from about t=2493 ? Man oh man, in a large room with some powerful speakers that must ‘feel’ great!
This one is very dark and very funny. The poem is translated (as good as possible) to english in the 2nd link.
