Still love this gurl. This is his West Side Story parody, Gee, Anthony Fauci!

Not everyone’s cup of tea but I think they are awesome. Check the comments, someone translated the lyrics.

I have a number of go to documentary films for inspiration and a lift when being a musician gets draggy. One favorite is It Might Get Loud and my latest all out joy is Strad Style which is a bloody good ride from start to finish.

Actually, if anyone has a good link to the firsts trailer please edit. Not comfy with this ā€˜link’
Edit: found the official trailer

I have met folk working in I.T. who to this day think using a VPN outside a business environment makes you some kind of elite black hat hacker dude… I can live with that

That sort of attitude is adorable.

I have a thing for cover versions, but only if they take the song to another dimension.

I  flaming lips. I still remember striving to listen to the entire 24h song skull in one sitting. No distractions, just listening and occasional coffee run. I remember the sleep deprivation had a strong effect on how the music was experienced. I started having auditory hallucinations then some minor visual hallucinations. I fell asleep before the end.

Not sure I can recommend it or not, but I’ll say this; it was an experience.

Either way, the album is still a wonderful listen, especially if you are dealing with some harsh shit. Melancholy as hell. Considering how the album came about, its no wonder. Originally, this was distributed in two ways:

  • A website that would loop this 24 hour long song, designed to loop perfectly.
  • Limited edition (13 copies) on flash drives encases in real human skulls for $5,000.

Normal vinyl and CDs were later produced.

Had no idea, but love flaming lips. Whilst I may not have the space in my life for a 24 hour straight listening session, I’ll definitely try and listen to the whole thing in the near future!

They are easily in my top 5 bands, which is kinda jarring that i haven’t posted anything here. I have a very personal relationship with a lot of their music.

My best live music experience ever. The first 5-10 min into the show I thought: What the hell are they doing up there?
Then I realised the layers of sound and all the interferences between them.
It was like looking into the sun with your eyes closed when you see these swirling colors.
(No substance abuse involved, I promise)
A 2 1/2 hour shamanic ritual that put me in a trance.
My body felt sore afterwards because they play so loud that you feel every bone inside you rattling. I’ve been to very loud concerts before but this was beyond loud.
A youtube video cannot convey all of this. It’s not 24hours either but a good 28:33 minutes.
