I have many old electronic parts - how can I use them?

Hey guys,

My grandpa had electronic devices workshop back in 1970-2000 in Poland. He threw away most of the stuff, but he found some boxes lately. He wanted to throw it away, but since I want to build my eurorack I get them. It took me some long evenings to sort everything. I get tons of diodes (not-glowing ones, literally thousands) from USSR and abroad and all these parts you can see on the images:

There is the list - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Uc5IQkfyYyc6F4a9HeAyHm1NZzXp7JpVXM0wtl_J_ik/edit?usp=sharing
I should get proper meter to check diodes, I will update the sheet then. However, there i a ton of them, including germanium ones.

Do you have any ideas what I can build using these parts? I have already parts for SSO (from LMNC ) and APC, but maybe any other ideas? I can try to separate transistor in the next order by models - I assume that may give me any ideas if they will be good for any build.

TL082 can remplace TL072 (there is so much in a lot of module)
2N222 can remplace 2N3904 (but invert the pin !!!)

this are only tracks because you may not have everything, but …

with 555 a simple envelope :

BC550 : clock divider :

some transistor L7805 are in some schematic for reduce the voltage to 5V (with arduino like Big Button, Sequencer Arduino …)

it’s very cool to have all of this components !

maybe wait a little that others guys in this forum comfirm that i said

That’s a great collection to start an electronics hobby with!

I think the ICs are interesting to start with. First I guess you could try to find out what their Western equivalents are.

E.g. I see a UCY7493, is that equivalent to a CD4093? If so, that can be used to make 4 digital oscillators. There are more ICs but I can not relate their numbers to anything immediately.

The NE555 can be used as a timer or square wave oscillator.

The CD4518 is a 4 bit binary decade up counter and could be used in a sequencer.

You can sort out the transistors, but you are only going to use transistors now and then so I would not spend too much time on that. If you need one, then try and find it.

My 2 cents.

Wonderful collection!

Good idea - I will try to do it this week.

If you are interested in getting anything from the list leave me a note. Goal is to use them in any way, there should be more fun that just storing them in the boxes.
And again, if I will get proper measuring device I should post diodes list in 1-2 weeks or so.

Pretty sure there’s a ton of guitar effects builders out there that would be happy to buy those diodes and transistors from you  These components may not be that useful for “classic” synth stuff (unlike the ICs), but if you’re into noise and distortion you can have a lot of fun with them.

(basically, any circuit with diodes in the signal path can benefit from having a big pile of diodes to play with, see e.g. the schematics here).

Yeah, I want to enter the ambient/echo/distortion world - so lucky me : )
Thanks, I will look into simple guitar pedals schemes that I could adapt to rack modules.

or make a stomp box adaptator for your modular to use it

I get today some packages with transistors and ICs, including

CA3046
LM1458N
LS324N

2N3904
2N2222A
C1815
S9018
BC548
BC327
BC558
3N3819
LP2950
BC557
BC546

I am sure I ordered them for projects I selected before, just need to find the schematics. However, if you have any ideas that will help me. I am a “little” overwhelm by the possibilities. Now, when we add stomp boxes - oh man, internet is to large : )
