I think I’ve said it before but I won’t let that stop me-Neve is gorgeous. I used to live above a couple that took in ex-track greyhounds.
Thank you! So very good of you, it’s a struggle to sort out good streams!
I recently subscribed to the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House. Both are running special programmes for the lockdown. This morning I put on ROH’s performance of Acis and Galatea, featuring the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet. This was Handel’s first composition in English.
The production is rather more sensuous than many modern ballets (no mincing swans in tutus here.) It’s regarded as one of the greatest pastoral operas, and this recording may be what amounts to the definitive modern performance.
It was only at 15:30 yesterday, with an end of week email from our CEO that I realised it’s a 4 day bank holiday weekend… Good not to be in the Home office ( 50cm away from here )…
Sadly can’t go anywhere!
Think I will spend some time trying to tidy the garage as it’s a right state…
Royal Opera House just put on the Jonathan Miller production of Così fan tutte. It’s slightly annoying to me that it takes a pandemic for entertainment like this to become widely available on YouTube.
You know, i have been looking at the SMT Assembly options they have at JLC (im sure others do this service). Seems pretty nifty pifty.
I still haven’t forgotten about my “Modular Modular Modules” idea. Surface mount would be the way to go for such an endevour. Ive been in a shit mood lately, but im coming round.
Maybe some of you are already involved in some way in the fight against this wretched flu, other who are looking for an active way to get involved might consider having a look at folding@home against covid19. Your cpu or gpu is often, no let me correct that, very often running idle when your pc or laptop is switched on. Why not ‘recycle/redirect’ those cycles towards some remedy?
Seconded, I’ve been running it about 3 weeks now.
Just listening to track 2…
So we are over a month since this thread was last posted…
I guess that’s kind of a nod to the fact abnormal is now normal in what ever fashion.
I am struggling workig at home, the constant interruptions and distractions are not helping and a mistake could be costly… I have ordered a desk and will soon try and work out of my workshop space on 4G, if it passable I may get a proper line in.
I have seen architect plans for our building that show how few people we can have in and “Social Distance”
on a plus side, haveing my rickerty lashed together desk setup in the dining/kitchen has allowed me some time to learn KiCad as it’s much easier on some old dual screens than a laptop. But this may have to go…
Lots of PCB’s on the go for all sorts of things…
I have all my Kosmo modules all but finished, just have to make that tentative step to power tem up…
The garage I use is opening this week, our main car is in need of a power steering rack, we have been nursing it for weeks… Also befor CV19 I had a Renualt Megane 225 that i was Flipping but needed work, so they can have that too! And that should free up space for a little 1992 VW polo that I am workign on with/for the kids…
I have budget 3D printer on order too, no idea if it willl ever turn up…
Upgraded my DAW PC ( not that i have used it yet due to constraints ) with a KingSpec SSD… Flies now
Each saturday my old school friends ~8 of us have a ZOOM pub meet up… Most we have talked in decades ( we did meet up ever year for the beer festival but that’s a dead duck…)
And was managing ~15 miles a day on the bike, but the wife is not well so need to stay close to home now.
So, So Glad I found Sams inventions in the autum, has given me something to focus on, and you lot for banter…
went back to work this week , they freed up construction work in my state . its the perfect set up a big empty house that needs a couple months work and there is only a few of us there at a time . but to tell you the truth I could have used some more time off to finish up stuff on the to do list . glad to hear you have been keeping busy and hooking up with friends . I found it has been good to connect with all those people I haven’t seen in awhile and have been meaning to call . meant as a reply to twinturbo
Not much has changed. We own masks now. We still mainly go out only to get groceries or for solitary exercise. It’s been an unusually cold spring, it was just snowing a few days ago, but looks like we’re headed into warmer weather and I’ll be out on the bike more often. In New York State the infection rate is way down from a few weeks ago, but that’s driven mostly by downstate. In my upstate county, where COVID-19 started up a couple weeks later, they’re still seeing more new cases per day. Hopefully that’s largely because they’re doing more testing but I don’t know. It’s certainly not dropping fast. I’m mainly occupying myself with designing and building synth stuff. Not so much reading or screen entertainment though I’m rereading the Scary Go Round comic. Meeting on Zoom once a week with morris dancing friends, and some occasional ukulele playing.
Back to work now in Seattle—masks and temperature taken before you come on to the jobsite. Good to be back to work but this means I have way less time and energy to spend on building kosmo. Found out the hard way while panel wiring mfos multipurpose module after work—After 3 silly mistakes I figured it was time to walk away for awhile haha. Especially sad cause I still have time to hop on here and see the cool stuff you guys are up to!
I’m still a carer for an autistic adult relative. Things are actually a little easier in some ways. Firstly we don’t feel like we have to make a huge effort to go to local beauty spots for a day out because unnecessary journeys are discouraged. Second, the therapy sessions we organised are now held over Skype, which is much less stressful than the face to face sessions that required a lot of preparation and travel.
Going shopping is a little less convenient because of the social distancing measures and the facemask which (while not compulsory in the UK) I wear inside the shop because I think that’s a reasonable public health measure.
My perspective has changed somewhat, and I’m no longer intending to hold my pension fund back for a rainy day. So my discretionary finances have expanded a lot.
I look at people who still need to work and still have active careers and younger children to look after, and it looks very grim. At least we have a functioning national health service.
Working from home as before. Built a new large garden space. That combined with the nice weather, outdoor projects have been endless and consumed all my time. Getting plenty of exercise from that. Added some new chickens to our flock, and started raising quail as well. Very little time to work on Kosmo modules, hoping a bit of rain this weekend may give me more than 30 minutes at a time here and there.
Still working from home. Encouraged by seeing daily cases dropping, but extremely warey since that is likey due to social distancing. Super worried bout y’all who have to work, and hope whoever is leading your place of work keeps you safe. I couldn’t bare losing a one of you.
Things are moving along at work, I predisposed to continue my work much later than I am requested, and constantly wfh I have to watch myself. Doing good work though, it’s a great distraction.
Home life is mostly fine, though I know I’m getting in my wife’s neaves. She has been very supportive though all of this, and has been a great help to me.
Usually being home all the time is fine, it’s starting to affect by burgers though. When I do go out to get food and resupply, it causes me a lot of anxiety when I see procedures bit followed. I will go to an estabishment with a sign that informs us what do do and they mock that sign. It’s comforting seeing people wear masks outside. I think people are trying so that’s good.
Been Jamming with some friends over the net, it’s slow going but fun.
Other than that, just working on some personal projects like diy midi controller etc. I had a dream midi controller for years, so I’m just building some stuff to get the skill up.
Been stuck in bed the last 4 weeks. First day up today. My youngest (18) is my carer and has been bored witless so I passed on a rakit drum synth I built a while ago… neighbors are thrilled.
Glad you have made it out of bed, don’t overdo it.
I bought a electric drumkit for my 16ish year old just as Lockdown started. Fortunately my neighbour is fairly deaf.
I have two of the MFOS quad timbre banks that have the same problem . got frustrated and set them aside for a bit .
