Dream Clonezzzz (which classic synth would you like to see cloned?)

A few of us got to talking about clones on the mail-day thread and at leas those of us who were talking about it all seemed to like the ones we’d ended up with, so I thought I’d ask what everyone’s “dream clone” would be. Which classic would you not mind seeing a “Deckard’s Dream” or Uliversion of next? Or are you against the march of the clones? I think mine, right now anyway, would be something weird. Like the EMS Synthi, or a something boring but big, like a JP 8.

Well, a Behringer CS-80 would be nice since Deckard’s Dream is so costly.

That’s the big un for sure. A linndrum would also be tasty. An ob8, or poly 6 would be nice.

I just want a juno 106 or just a good clone of their chorus.

The Poly D Chorus is supposed to be really close to the 106! It might be a little big just to run other stuff through the ext. in, but I bet you’d eventually find yourself playing leads on it ALL THE TIME once it was in front of you. Still, I need to get off that list and refunded. :money_mouth_face:

Ooooh, I would love to see/have an OSCar.

Isn’t the T.C. Electronic clone of the Juno 60 chorus like $50 bucks? I have a bit of an aversion to chorus in general, but I’m trying to overcome it

Absolutely! Another great choice. I’d venture it’s high on Uli’s list too!

I’ve heard bad things. Probably overblown though!

I’d like a Behringer Prophet 5, it would be so good

Heather Graham.

But I would make do with a lookalike DX7 ( not a reface DX, I want something with presence.)

A CMI Fairlight… Now that would be a fun recration!!

@MTTT17… Why Behringer??? And Not Seq?

I think the Arturia Fairlight emulation is close enough to the real thing if you put the right keyboard and monitor with it and have a friend randomly turn it off at intervals to mimic the legendary crashes you hear about! It is a fun plug-in, but I’m disappointed that it didn’t have the famous dog bark!

I spat my coffee at the crashes remark.

@twinturbo the reason I think a Behringer would be better is because as a 15 year old, I have no where near enough money to buy a sequential remake, which would be over £1000 at least. However, you’re right, an EMI Fairlight remake would be a great bit of kit, and I’m sure lots of people would want one.

We are talking DREAM Clone though…

That’s right, so I suppose a Seq would be better!

@MTTT17 you have a point though. Sequential had the Mopho x4, which I kind of think of as a Prophet 4, and it was still about $1100 new when it first came out. Behringer’s thing is good stuff at a great price point. Their first clone, the model D, is so good that even the snobbiest listener can’t tell the difference in a blind compare though. I’d venture that there’s as much or more difference between individual units of the original Moog Model D as there is between them and the modern Behringers.

Yeah, to be honest, I reckon Behringer are killing it at the moment. They seem to know exactly what everyone wants and delivers it well. A Behringer Prophet 5 would be godly. I guess I just can’t justify spending £1200 on a Prophet 8, when I know that Behringer could make a fairly competent Prophet 5 clone in the near future.

Has anyone ever seen the TV Show “The Million Pound Jaguar”

They (Jaguar, Not somone else) built 6 faithful recreations of a very special “Lightweight E-Type” … Replica? Recreation? Clone? Re-Run???

Whatever, the “Snobz” in the motorsport world, or at least at “Goodwood” Would not accept it, although strangely they are happy to talk about it and the D-type on their website…
