Several things, but for me it’s that it has eight individual outputs.

Thats a good reason!

Ooh! Build in midi functionality… That’s really useful. Oh dear… cheapest I can find around here is about 90 euro’s inc. vat.

Sadly there’s no cheap ones on Amazon that covers the UK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve seen the new Teensy 4.1 has been released, which brings fast SD card access, a 600 MHz processor and a ton of memory together with the audio capabilities of earlier ones… and it’s a fraction of the price of a WAV Trigger so I might have to get hold of one and work on some firmware.

Let me know how that goes, the Teensy looks to be a neeto device.

I just checked the uk amazon, and there are stores in there that have it, but yeah i have been burned by stores that dont fulfill by Amazon where they dont even deliver the product, Scam Style. I can get not wanting to go that route.

Having recently mocked up the O2 nano pops drum machine as a project for my youngest I’m thinking I might make some drum noises and use audacity to pull them down to work in memory on a nano. Hifi? Eh, no! Really no! But as so many percussion sounds don’t ‘need’ to be to be effective I think its worth a go. Just have to use the simpler drum only part of the code and work out how the inputs/triggers would work. Polyphony may even be possible. I will never pay 40+ for a board. It’s on my list. I’ve even decided to add a dip switch and an SD card reader and see if I can ‘update’ the nano with alternate sounds.
