Behringer gear (started as discussion of Behringer PSU problems)

I guess you’re right but it kinda makes me want to cry

I meant to do that

At least it’s a dip ic instead of a sop
Those pins have some rigidity and clearance, the massive blob of solder in this mic is shorting the little ic legs

It is not uncommon for companies that produce electronics to have to modify existing devices by ‘rewiring’ some stuff or refurbish them (e.g. exchange components as soon as they are sent in for repair). Especially for small quantities of devices it might be more expensive to produce a new pcb.

I know it’s not uncommon, but if it makes the product fail, it’s badly implemented.
In my opinion it’s always bad. Microphones for example can get knocked a lot, you don’t want it to fail during a show.

I know it’s from the factory because there are no plated pads, but at least get someone with the required skill to make this kind of connection

in this type of situation I add a shot of hot glue

That’s what i was thinking as well

First clean up the solder joints, (maybe add a tiny piece of circuit board with little wires to the ic) and stabilise with a bit of hot glue
