2399 triple splashback delay

Good lord, this thing is fun. So fucking noisy, just perfect. The confusing as hell interface really only adds to the fun.

I just built mine today, there are no shorts that ive found however the 10r resistor (looks like the one that comes from -12 volts) next to the power input gets super hot to the point where it burns out…i have no idea whats happening…

When it’s one component I go back to the schematic and check from that component out.
For me with resistors it’s usually me reading the scale badly and sticking a 100k in for a 10k.

i sat and checked for any shorts and got a second opinion from a friend, no issues there. Its a 10ohm resistor from the -12volt pin that keeps doing it…no idea why…

Do you think i potentially nuked any of the pt2399’s?

it seemsa having all 3 pt2399’s in makes it smoke the fastest, taking them out one by one causes the resistor to heat slower eaach time

if i desolder C29 it stops burning out but as expected when i turn the delay on the output cuts out so its somewhere along this line thats giving me grief

just realised im a dumbass, its the resistor on the + side that keeps burning

I’d triple check that all the ICs are in the right way around. The 10ohm resistor burning is a good thing in this case. Tells you something’s up and hopefully none of the other components fried.

And check the power header orientation too.

I think everything is the right way, my camera is crap sorry

my soldering isnt the most beautiful but ive checked that there are no shorts and reflowed it twice to make sure there werent any high resistance points

Are those blue caps right? I don’t remembering needing those on mine…

yeah, just ones tayda had in stock, just funky colours. I got blue ones too when i was building the FCUK power supplies and they work fine

at the time of ordering they only had 4.7uf but at 250volts, i dont think the voltage matters as long as its higher than rated and the capacitance is fine

Yeah, nothing stands out to me. Bent pins on the TL074? Do you have another you could plop in?

ive tried 3, ive got about 50 of them lol. IDK if a bent pin would cause the resistor to burn up tho…

Anything else heating up besides the resistor?

not that i can tell, the resistor is the only thing ive had burn, its right as it comes out of the +12 volt pins

Stuff might get hot to the touch without actually smoking.

was comparing to mine and all the ic’s and caps look like they are the right way . not that I can say mine is working I just realized why it wasn’t working I didn’t connect the jacks . it sounds like a short somewhere .

I did have a poke around with my finger but thats as scientific as i can get with it, i dont have any thermal camera, the resistor is the only thing that seemed to get hot

From where? Fakes abound.

all from tayda, i tested them in known working panels before i put them in the tripple splashback
