Thanks on order should have them by Friday.
I just left them out and the module works perfectly fine!
no jumpers or anything just remove them . I might go back and take them out there has always been a little wonkEness with those modules maybe that will help .
I built the quad vca (1183 version) quite a while ago and although it appears to be working fine, I have noticed a slight bleedthru mainly on input 1 but also slightly on input 2 but isnât noticeable with inputs 3 or 4.
This even seems to occur without anything plugged into the CV input, more noticeable on higher frequency sounds, just testing straight from a 1222VCO as the source, this appears both on the individual output and the mixer output.
Iâve check the boards for bad joints/shorts etc, re-cleaned incase of flux etc and swapped positions of respective TL074 & AS3360 ICâs to see if issue moves.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this or have any further suggestions for identifying where the issue is coming from, I do have a scope but not really sure where to go next with it?
Richard
Hi all, just to clarify, I can see the Zener Diodes arenât required, would you still need to put wires to connect the points the diodes would have joined?
Thanks!
No, just leave them out.
I am experiencing the same issue of bleeding through of audio in the 1183 Quad VCA. It even happens when the right hand switch is turned off. Any suggestions as to what might cause this would be welcome!
Stefan
hmm interesting. i cant say i have experienced that with these ones, might not be the case but i have known the connections between both the bottom and top pcb to be a bit loose which caused me spome headaches, i resoldered them to make a better connection as the jacks can sometimes push them apart a bit? thats me clutching at straws though!
Think these posts were meant for this topic:
oh dear! how did i manage that! thanks kind sir.
Hahaha, nice!
I will do some tests in the upcoming days, and will report back with some more details on when/how the bleeding through is occuring.
Stefan
Yesterday I did some tests. It seems as though the bleeding through on my 1183 Quad VCA, on all channels and with both positive and negative CV inputs. Today a thought came into my mind: could it be caused by a power supply issue? I did some calculations on the mA draw of all my Kosmo modules, and by now it is pushing the limits of my power supply. I will do some more tests by unplugging modules, to see if this makes a difference.
yeah inadequate power supply can cause weird issues , not sure about the one you are having , but power is one of those basic things that is best not to skimp on .
Apologies for this belated update! I recently did some tests, and it seems that negative CV voltages make my Quad VCA bleed through. It is just a very low volume bleeding through, but any thoughts on what could cause it are welcome!

Complete noob here in desperate need for VCAs (actually Voltage Controlled Attenuators) so forgive my ignorance but I need to ask 2 questions regarding this:
- Is it possible to power this somehow from a regular 9v pedal adapter?
- Does this module handle CV as well for the Inputs?
Thank you guys so much!
the question is what is it for? and would a vactrol be suffice maybe?
Embarrassingly simple purposes, like getting an LFO to the input and put a CV controller (Touché or CV pedal) to the CV in so I can open and close the attenuator at will. But in some (many) cases that LFO would run at audio rates and as far my tiny braino understands a Vactrol is not really good for those applications but maybe I am wrong at this point.
The thing I like the most about the 1184 is that it also has a Mix out so I could even use it for mixing different controllers, but in an ideal world it would be more of a matrix mixer. But gosh, designing something like that, well, I have a lot to learn before that happens.
waaaait a minute⊠I think I figured out something. I would use audio rate mod in the inputs not for the CV control. So unless my leg on the pedal goes lightspeed a Vactrol should be fine right?
Wondering if you solved this? I appear to be having the same issue. My 1183 use to work now it has bleed through on positive and negative CV, tested it by running the 1145 VCLFO though it, I hope that makes sense.
The sound plays through if i have the CV plugged in or not, and when the CV is triggered the sound gets louder.
The LEDs for channel 2 and 3 appear to be working as they are meant to, being âoffâ when no CV is going through and âonâ when there is. Channels 1 and 4 are acting more like the sound where they are on dimly when no CV is going through and brighter when CV is going through. Channels 1 and 4 are also louder.
I also noticed that the chip as a AS3360A and not a AS3360, I swapped that and it didnât change.
Unfortunately not. I checked all connections with a multimeter, but was not able to find any bridges or something like that. I left it as is, for now. Some others modules were in higher need of attention.
When I get back to this mixer issue, I will let tou know!
