Wondering where everybody gets SID chips from. Is it best to just buy a single chip On eBay? or a Commodore 64 and take it out? Is there anything to watch out for when buying?

Careful on eBay-the word is that there are a lot of counterfeit packages getting stamped with the label!

Yeah, sourcing from Chinese sellers is risky, especially if you’re not set up to test the chips so you can dispute the purchase before it’s too late. With enough luck, you’ll get a recycled chip that works, but it’s not like there’s a big stash of new old stock out there; anything that looks new or fresh is an old chip of unknown origin that has been touched up (“remarked”) to look like new.
