J’avoue qu’ici il y a beaucoup de passionnés et de personnes qui s’y connaissent, heureusement qu’on puissent parler anglais (je sais pas si c’était très français ce que je viens de dire mais oui :sweat_smile:)

that gives me an idea, it might be fun to create a compilation of tracks from members of this forum with our diy modular synth. maybe just a virtual album version to download …?

So I see sometimes a blue led in a usual red led circuit, can you just put a blue led in and use its proper correct resistor and be done with it , Kind of like say red led is using 1k and then blue led uses 2.2k maybe ?

Most of the time, yes.
In a few cases the voltage drop accross the LED is important for the circuit to work, but usually the description of the circuits tells you you have to use a LED of a specific color. Usually…

Yeah you can use LEDs to show to the user “it works!”. But for example in the Schmitzbitz low pass filter MS20 thingy the LEDs are used for the circuit to work properly ^^

Yesterday I was trying to put a LED that would light with the pitch of the Simple 1v/oct oscillator build. I placed it on the potentiometer output after a resistor to the ground and my potentiometer behaved more like a logaritmic one insted of linear. (That only affected the pitch, the LED lighted evenly)

Would it be the same approach? Also was wondering why should be amplified the signal out to the LED instead of the other output as it makes more sense to me to amplify the lost signal to its regular path.

You’ve introduced a voltage divider with the transfer function R1 / (R1 + R2), where R1 is fixed and R2 is variable, and the LED adds additional non-linearity to that.

Here’s the approximate transfer function, ignoring LED behaviour (x axis is potentiometer position in %):

Hum, thaaats not what I was trying to do xD

I think I understand what happend tho, so if I would change the value from 619 to something like 1.5M, now by changing the value from the potentiometer the correlation would be more linear (mainly I guess because so little current would be going to the LED that it won’t even turn on) which then could be amplified…(?)
