Hey so I was interested in LMNC’s speak and spell button matrix mod and tried it out myself. It works fine using just a 2n3904 transistor, with the connector leg connected to two of the button pins (wired together) and when triggered, would sound off a single letter or button. I should also mention that for one of the pins is a 1n4148 diode going out to connect to the second pin to activate a button. But the problem is when I add two more wire, or a diode and another wire wired together for a second button, it doesn’t work. I’m sure I’m missing something or might have done the wiring wrong but my plan is to use Sam’s relay matrix idea without the relays, but still have each button individually triggered by a sequencer or something. Any ideas for how a schematic would look like or something I’m missing?
it still would be 8 wires from left and right , each up to 5 squares and then 5 wires down , with 1 to 6 2 to 7 3 to 8 4 to 9 and 5 to 10 as those are squares too. the diode setup can only be one diode at a time , that might be the problem.
also is the pItch pot used instead of the brain resistor and middle leg of said pot the cv jack? And are the indicator leds, on tone and loop , hanging off the output of each segment pertaining to those specific mods. Kinda like the LFO has the led indicator and 150 ohm reisitor for tts function?
@Jewceman I was also in tested in this spell button. I think you should keeps on this topic. It will be very worth able project in future.
yes I will its a fun thing to challenge myself and my speak and spell is exactly like the one used , its the pitch part and switches at the bottom of Sams design I am trying to work the ideas he might have had out . But yeah this blog will continue .
Honestly I still would be interested in recreating or even making the circuit bent speak and spell topic still alive. I actually tried recreating it with similar functions like Sams and going with the whole relay and trigger idea to trigger each button. But the part that got me stuck was finding some kind of simple arduino sequencer like his 16 step one to do the job. I’m sure we can maybe find a code and schematic that can do it fine, but I still have trouble doing using banana jack wires to wire it all since the sockets and jacks have to be grounded which I don’t know how to do with them.
Anyone have a nice diagram for a transistor mod for gate and trigger?
Would love to get an idea of whats happening - for some reason this ones not mentally clicking lol
