You should be breadboarding it first.
I’m quite sure connecting the LEDs like this (in the bottom part) will work:
And you’ll confirm at the same time the 2N3904 (or MMBT3904) will work.
Adjust the 470R ! Probably more like 1K2 or even 2K…
