God, I hope they sell components and not just cell phone cases and RC toy cars…
Well, they have been
and I’m not sure it makes any sense for them to try to scale that up a lot. But it’d be nice if it did, and nice if likewise the kits and projects were more prominent again.
Huh, I didn’t know. My first ever hardware project as a kid was an LFO/distortion pedal housed in one of those project boxes on the front page. Good times.
Most of their products seem to be tagged “sold out online.” Not great.
That’s presumably related to the news linked above, and temporary.
The only reason I bought anything from them after about 93 was because they were local and meant I didn’t have to pay shipping or wait for it.
As an on-line presence I just don’t see the appeal. Mouser/Digikey/Tayda and with the fast prime shipping even Amazon are far more useful for me now.
And even before 93 I seldom bought much from them because it was worth the time to drive 45 minutes across town to a surplus shop or microcenter for just about anything else I needed from them. Just in 93 I moved and no longer had anything but RadioShack within a 3 hour drive of my location
Spookey, only mentioned them a day ago in the electronics kit thread
We did not have “Radio Shack” shops in the uk, they used the Tandy brand name. Probably thought it sounded like a quality Japanease Retail Chain…
