Poly61 editor board

Last year I upgraded my Korg Poly 61 to a Tauntek processor board which included MIDI and cc parameter editing, for those of you that know the 61, editing is a pain by parameter entry. So I looked inside the 61 and there is a space in the lid around 70mm wide where the parameters are labelled in the lid.

I thought it wouldn’t be good to fill that space with a hardware editor, so this afternoon I knocked this together. It could be placed in top of the 61 or fitted inside.

Managed to finish the midi editing side of the build, tested with my 61. Next the hard part to manage the sysex dumps to and from the editor.

Is this editor/technology in any way transferable to / usable with another Korg synth, like the Korg poly 800?

It is transferable but unfortunately the Poly800 doesn’t support cc or sysex

Just to add if you do a hawk upgrade of your 800 MK1 or 2 then you get full sysex or cc editing

Completed MIDI editor for the Poly 61 with a Tauntek motherboard. I have found many bugs from the release last week, updated the display to fit the screen properly and also added Sysex routines to load and save patches with and without patchnames.

I couldn’t resist installing it into the Poly 61 this afternoon. Bit of a squeeze, but worth it.
