Op-amp tutorials

I. Basics of Op-amp circuits - a tutorial on how to understand most op-amp circuits

An easy way to understand the operation of most op-amp circuits.

II. Op-amp signal conditioning example

If you are interested in applying op-amps in your circuits, but have no knowledge of how to do so nor how to select resistor values this video shows a simple example where one voltage range is changed into another voltage range. The approach taken and the calculations involved are explained in simple terms.

III. Differential amplifier

Another interesting video is about a differential amplifier built from transistors i.e. the basic building block of an op-amp:

This is awesome!

I have a hunch that the tri-to-sine waveshaper I just built (see other thread) is actually a slightly modified differential amplifier. I’d love to understand how it works exactly so I will study your video in more depth. Here’s the schematic I built.

Can you upload an audio sample which demonstrates the wave shaping?

Here’s a little video recording of the waveshaper. I’m tuning R1.

Tnx. So it changes a triangle into a sinusoidal and then in a square wave while preserving the signal’s amplitude. This is what it is supposed to do?

I don’t know that much about the circuit other than that it supposed to convert a triangle into a sine. But while playing around, I found that one of the trimpots allowed me to blend from the original input triangle wave towards a sine. By turning it further it becomes a kind-of square wave (it is definitely not perfect though and no PWM). I think that getting 3 types of waveforms out of a triangle wave is pretty cool for such a small circuit.

yes especially without change of amplitude !
