How come no one told me about this? Looks pretty sweet. Anyone used one?
I’ve had a wee play when the original kaoss pad came out and helped with a guitar mixer mount. They can be very expressive.
Though is should say that you can do almost everything the kaoss does with an old mobile phone and free apps.
tbh looks neat and the price is right
They’ve only just come onto the market, so it’s going to be a while before I get to have a play with one, but I really like the look of this. I love the NTS-1, and I’ve had an original Kaoss Pad KP1 for years (I just checked my email, I got it on eBay in 2010), so this looks like it’s got my name written all over it.
I wonder if they’ve fixed the USB noise problem properly, because the NTS-1 sounds terrible when plugged into a computer. I can only have it connected to my MPC by having the USB cable loop through an enormous ferrite…
Not too unreasonable, and those ferrite rings are still a useful shortcut avoiding hours of filter faff. The Kaoss can’t help being noisy and I doubt the design has changed.
An old but brilliant method for noise abaitment I use is to wrap an additional ground wire a few turns along the length of the usb cable or data wires, then find and ask a real physicist to explain the woo woo magic results when the noise significantly drops.
Sorry, I’m retired.
I had a similar noise issue with my Arturia KeyStep at one time, and it was fixed using a $9 ground loop noise isolator. Not that there might not be cheaper roll-your-own solutions, of course, if you want to experiment with them.
Same one i use.
The XY pad interface is neat for live performance and Korg makes good stuff, but seeing this makes me wonder what would be the best DIY option for a XY pad to rig up to a custom circuit. The Korg here doesn’t seem made of PCB material, but their promo material shows they use a very thin device for the pads
