PCB’s…
And panels.
It’s finally coming to be!! Nice to see
Please remember, dibssssss
Can’t wait to see it working!!
@CTorp ^ we were just talkin about this lol
So are deliveries from China working for people, or is it just me having trouble with the usual suspects (aliexpress, banggood, and ebay) right now?
(I don’t think I’ve received anything ordered later than mid-March, and the most recent tracking update for my outstanding orders was a “Flight landed in destination country” with the wrong country, three weeks ago.)
no special problems for me, couple of parcels lost in 3 months. But most stuff in the usual time frame 4-6 week depending on when the item hits the container and when it hits the boat… ( if your lucky, your the last package in the lasty container ;)…
Rob
yeah, it’s painful waiting for the PCB’s.
And when you discover another issue it’s frustrating. but hopefully a couple of issues this time will not stop an almost full prototype.
Are you using DHL? Not that I’ve had a PCB made in a while but it’s always seemed like a good investment.
I ordered a small item on eBay from a Hong Kong seller on 16th, expecting a lengthy wait because the delivery estimate was July 3rd to August 17th. It arrived yesterday, 25th.
I use DHL for PCBs. They’re reliable (at least when it’s not Dragon Boat Festival and the PCB manufacturer takes a day off before DHL has picked up the package )
The things I’m waiting for now are either Aliexpress’s tracked standard shipping (extra charge, supposed to take 2-3 weeks) or seller’s cheapest option.
Not China but Thailand: Ordered from Tayda on Monday, DHL delivered yesterday.
China: Ordered from JLCPCB on May 30, shipped June 3, DHL delivered June 8.
China: Ordered on AliExpress on May 12, allegedly shipped the next day, allegedly arrived in US on May 23, USPS still hasn’t received it yet.
Australia: Ordered from Nonlinear Circuits on May 9, shipped postal service letter rate (untracked) May 11, no sign of it here yet. Apparently all regular mail out of Australia is going by ship these days and 2 month delivery isn’t unheard of.
Sorry, did you say “last” modules?
Last ever or last on this synth and- you-should-see-my-next-one!
Maybe he makes them out of old shoes?
As a contrast, I ordered a load of parts from Tayda to the UK a month ago and skimped out on DHL postage, and there’s no sign of them yet. They did warn me it’d be slow!
I’ve been ordering from aliexpress for a while and my statistics are:
mean delivery time = 26.6 days
mode = 14 days
stdev = 18.51 days
N = 800
I’ve had orders from April delivered within a few weeks, others never arrived.
The same goes for May.
I’ve had messages that stuff had arrived in my country, never to arrive at my home.
I’ve had messages telling me that products had been shipped repeatedly for the same product.
Most stuff ultimately does arrive, but late. For some orders I had to start a ‘dispute’ to get my money back because the stuff was not delivered within 60 days. So some stuff I had to order again because I still wanted to have it. Because I have several projects running at a time, I often order stuff in advance, so most time I can bridge the waiting time working on other project. But of course I’d like the delivery process to be better than it is now. It had been great for years, and I’m sure that will get back to normal.
B.t.w. every time I applied for a refund I got a refund.
It’s been between one and two months from AliExpress for me, even with the standard shipping.
Finally! 50 box-style big jacks from AliExpress. Already ordered the next 100. Hopefully I’ll make it till they arrive
got to remember that AliExpress is not one company, it’s just a front man for lots of others.
on a lot of stuff the margins are minuscule so the less they can spend on logistcs the better for them.
Not had many issues myself.
Have been waiting 3 months for an order from a Tindie for some DMX boards ( in that time I have designed my own better version twice and got the PCB’s twice!)
Also some addressable LED tape from an amazon seller is over 2 months.
This graph shows the odds for a given delivery time to the Netherlands for products ordered with aliexpress over the last few years.
[Edit] @fredrik plot showed a histogram, not the odds, and was a bit out dated.
This one is from Febr 2015 till now. It shows the odds of a given delivery time over the last 5 years.
These are the odds starting from Febr 2020. The odds of getting a longer delivery time are higher.
I wanted to say, I will be able to finish the 2 or 3 modules to finish filling my 3rd case, but surely not the last of my life
Got the first of several packages. This one’s from Mouser…all SMD parts and the few odd ones that I needed to finish up a couple of Sam’s modules. I’ve given up on laying anything out nicely for photos…LOL. Took me 4 hours to go through and verify everything was here and sort it all into project bags. Waiting for 9 more packages from different places and then I can get to building.
BTW…thanks @CTorp for the PCB’s. They arrived safely. Meant to tell you that but it’s been a crazy week.
Good news is that I still have a job after all of the layoffs.
Impressive bookkeeping Do you have the data organized so you can make the same plot for just the last few months?
(I guess that would be a bit distorted by things in flight, but you could visualize that with a “if it would arrive tomorrow” metric, and if I keep asking you for more slicing of this dataset I’m going to keep you occupied all day…)
