Hey best forum ever, please don’t laugh at me, but how do I get an LED on the socket to light up when a plug is in and when it is outside, the LED shouldn’t light up either. Without a special socket with a built-in switch? I’m just a little on the hose .

You can cheat with the guitar type jack sockets and a microswitch. In the 80’s we put LEDs inside guitars and amps so you could find a plug in the dark. It was a fad that disappeared as inexplicably as it arose.
You edged a micro switch against the tip spring which is “pressed” on by a plug then a hearing aid cell lights the led.
