Hi Guys
I have a Laney TF200 Fusion amp that I have just got working. Problem is that the reverb is not working on any channel. I’ve taken the reverb tank out, used contact cleaner, but still no joy.
I have checked the IN and OUT RCA sockets and the IN one has a short between the two poles. Is that normal or should I view it as a fault? Any responses gratefully received
Welcome!
Luckily Laney are never mean about sharing schematic and the TF200 is a simple enough layout. The reverb tank (Laney call it a spring tank) is connected to the preamp module (PCB 9301) via a small socket labeled SK1. Two wires connect to the in and out on the tank. If the socket you mentioned is shorting to ground then I’d look for physical damage to either the tanks sockets or a problem with the wire to the preamp. I think you’re right about the socket, it should not be shorting.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
Hi Sandy
Thanks for your reply. I have actually removed the tank from the amp, so the short is not in the cable from the preamp, just on the tank itself. I reckon the fault may be in the tiny coil/transformer on the IN side of the spring That probably means a replacement tank.
It’s an ACCUTRONICS 1BB3C1B, if I can find one.
Raymond
You might get away with repairing the connections of the coil (a passive amplifier probably) or swap out that one component. If the mechanics of the springs are ok it seems a shame to replace the whole thing.
