The track “Ludwig II von Bayern” on the album “X” has been an inspiration to me from the moment I first heard it:

My first encounter with Klaus was through his Blackdance LP in the mid-seventies. It’s quite similar to Tangerine Dream of the time in its use of phasing and filtering effects, but with a stronger emphasis on percussion. The overall effect is hypnotic, not unlike the Indian ragas being popularised at the time by Ravi Shankar.

I was saddened to hear this news today, but I’m grateful that Klaus left so much great music behind for us all to enjoy. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
