Thanks, totally missed this! This will certainly go on the list of 'modules to build ', as it sounds awesome!
Building it as we speak. Need to order a few components, but I will let ya’ll know how it went.
Just finished it ![]()

And it sounds awesome!!
Thanks @moritzklein for this another great circuit
great interface layout. nice job! ![]()
Many thanks Moritz. Its you that started it all for me back in 2021. Since then i’ve build several modules based on your schemo’s.![]()
This design is in my to-do pile!
A classical percussionist asked me how to make that Kelly Marie 1979 “Doo Doo” sound!
Ah, one day!
I looked up the video of the song and its that pow pow sound? Its a space drum module i believe it was. You can set the pitch and sensitivity trigger. You can even use a piezo tap trigger for that too.
I bored this percussionist to tears explaining how it was possible with analogue or FM and then looked at making him a Boss pc-2 clone.
Then I realised he needed several pads and polyphony so I bought and repaired an old Roland v-drum brain for £20 and made him several home made rubber piezo pads to trigger it.
Does anyone have a good pc-2 or space drum clone on stripboard? My pockets shrivel at the prices of original kit. Come the revolution the use of the word ‘retro’ will be restricted (you’ve been warned world)
Yup. I remember Sam doing this video but like Sam, I’ve yet to find a schematic or verified stripboard that comes close to the simplicity of that space drum layout or it’s newer version. I made a note at the time that this might be a good project for easyeda.
I built one of the Rakit Drum Synth kits. It’s good but everything is so crammed and the noise is hard to filter out.
Thanks Marty. This looks much clearer than the one I found. Have you built this at all?
I can’t seem to find a BOM or other details for this on diystompboxes. Have you a link to the source for the diagram.
Sorry to pester you but if I don’t follow up soon my brain will file all of this info under forgotten.
Hi, no I didn’t build it but looks promising. I always read from schematic instead. not great at reading stripboard layout
I hope you will build it and let me know the results. I’m sure I have seen a regular schematic somewhere on the www too.

Here is the link, scroll down a bit and you see the schematic and other info
Fabulous! Thank you Marty. Currently building another rubber midi drum mat for a studio in fife and I’ve decided to add a couple of triggers for a space drum. I’ll keep you posted. Cheer
Hi Moritz,
Hope you doing well.
I recently was thinking why not build a second and maybe a third FM Drums module, Having this idea on my mind regarding the switches to select/toggle the sound modes.
I think you remember this ![]()
![]()
Ok, here comes my idea but i dont know how to implement. What if we could replace those two mechanical switches for an electronic one? Like the CD4016 (quad bilateral switch)? And control the sound modes via CV? I could then use my Yusynth Random Gates module for example to toggle those switches electronically and when this happens, you can turn the knobs on the fly. What do you think? Is this possible? Like to hear your thoughts.
As always have a nice day
