Fart Box Builds

Which way is high and which way is low on the tight and loose switch?

Which way is loop (vindaloo mode) and no loop on the loop switch.
And which way is OSC 2 on and off? Lol
I haven’t built my fart boxes yet.

Two build questions:

  1. Does trim pot orientation matter?

  2. Can I sub out BC557 for the BC558? And if I do, do I need to put it in backwards? From looking over the datasheet it looks like I do but it would be nice to get independent confirmation.

  1. Not unless the adjustment screw needs to match a hole in e.g. the front panel (which isn’t the case here)
  2. Yes, the differences don’t matter in this circuit. They have the same pinout.

I second fredrik on both! its fine for this build! all good.

down is on for osc2. up is off
vindaloo mode (loop mode) is on when switch is down, off when up
Osc range (high ie tight farts I’m pretty sure is up, and loose is down.

so I think what you have imaged is correct!

update on the clean side of the panel

Forgot to switch OSC2’s on and off around lol

Looking good. I think “Loop Mode” should just be labeled “Loop”, though.

changed.
Any other suggestions from anyone?

What would you like to see around the pots?
The big ones are 37mm and the smaller are 30mm -
The outlines seen above are just guides to know where the pots end.
Not alllll that much room since they are sorta tight together.

I was considering moving Attack and OSC1 Freq above the pots instead of below. OR moving attack to the inside of the pot like OSC1 Freq.

Should I change OSC1 Freq. and OSC2 Freq. to Freq1 and Freq2?

AND one moar thing!!

does anyone know of a fab shop with BROWN silkscreen??? :stuck_out_tongue:

Would love some feedback or Hell yeahs or something for this one.

I still think I am going to call it KOSMO FART BOX instead of just Fart Box up on the top - but would love some opinions.

Remeber, the other side is clean. this side is by no means meant to be “tidy”, as it is meant to emulate @lookmumnocomputer 's hand drawn Fart Boxes.

The controls aren’t symetrical (Consistency pot), how can a double sided Panel work ?

Notice

Attack on top^

Attack on bottom^

You have to rotate the FB pcb as well lol

If you take the top view and flip it over and rotate it, you get

which doesn’t match the bottom view. It’s not a matter of rotating the PCB, it’s that when you flip the panel over the odd hole ends up in a different place than where you’ve drawn it.

If this doesn’t make sense to you I suggest making a cardboard model of the panel and trying it out.

the Panel is upside down and flipped…
because youre not taking the pots from your PCB off and flipping them to the other side to use the other side…

I repeat: try it with a cardboard model

this worked in my head a lot better… lol

Or just do the two sided version with an extra hole and

Screw a pot with knob in the additional hole, for what I understand the controls don’t have a very predictable effect, so having one that does nothing wont be noticed
