Fart Box Builds

That is just gorgeous!

I take it you went for a perforated top so that the wind can break more easily from the device?

Does anyone have a link/part-number to source the on-on SPDT switches?

I ordered some from Rapid Online but they’re too small for the holes, and taller than then Thonk pots! Another partial success!

Any help appreciated.

When asking for sources it’s helpful to mention where you’re located. I haven’t built this but Sam typically specifies ones like these:

Are those (or the single pole version I guess) what you ordered?

I get these:

https://www.taydaelectronics.com/mini-toggle-switch-1m-series-spdt-on-off-on.html

and they’re close enough to the same height as these pots (maybe throw in a washer as needed):

https://www.taydaelectronics.com/100k-ohm-linear-taper-potentiometer-round-shaft-pcb-9mm.html

which I think are the same as the ones from Thonk you referred to.

Edit to add: The Fart Box BOM calls for on-off-on switches, not on-on. The Tayda link above is for on-off-on switches. That’s what the BOM says but as mentioned above, it seems on-on is what’s really needed.

Ohhhhh yes! I should have said - I’m in the UK.

Thanks for the reply @analogoutput!

I ordered these:

which are near, but not right!

Thanks for that. I’ll get the SPDT version of the Salecom item. I seem to be unlucky with international post at the moment.

I noticed that about the on-off-on - there’s commentary in this thread which seems to indicate that on-on is required… any experience of which is correct?!

You’re right, looks like you want on-on. Sorry, I was going by what’s stated in the BOM which seems to be inaccurate.

Thanks for that!

It’s a bit confusing - but even on-off-on isn’t going to really matter I suspect!

Appreciate the help with the part number!

Yeah I used on off on, but on on will be slightly better.

if they are too small, you can also try adding a larger washer

Oh no! Videos are gone

Which videos? I don’t think there was ever a build video…?

The ones by @Noise.Boutique that were posted in this thread.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I’m not seeing an answer above and don’t remember if Sam mentioned it in the videos?

Does the Fartbox have line level outputs?

Here is my version of The farting machine :metal:

Question: what are CV 1 and 2 inputs for ? None of my Minibrute outputs seems to affect any parameters

Modular level, afaik.

Oscillator frequency (the usual 1V per octave, combined with internally generated CVs).

That’s what I thought but double checking . I think you’re probably right.

Thanks Fredrik!

What is the best and most preferred button - and can someone provide the datasheet please.

Light up arcade button is my fave but if you leave enough room and make the hole smaller, I can always drill a hole big enough for the button. I don’t think I’ll panel mount this one so maybe other folks button preferences should have higher weighting.

light up arcade buttons are the BEST and you can buy 10 as different colors on ebay and then spares for new projects, green, blue, white, red and yellow are the colors
