DIY aftertouch mod

Hey I was wondering, is it possible to mod a midi keyboard with aftertouch? For instance, I have an M-audio oxygen 8 keyboard, since it does not come with aftertouch, can I add the aftertouch resistor strip and the proper circuit for it and somehow combine it with the output of the keyboard? I guess what gave me this idea was a video where a guy adds velocity and aftertouch to a toy piano using the strips and an arduino based circuit, and was curious if I can use that same idea onto a keyboard I already own,but somehow incorporate the aftertouch data with the outgoing data of the keyboard? I do not know if this is possible or would just require to instead make a keyboard from scratch

I added aftertouch to a 49 Key midi controller using two resistive strips in parallel and a few opamps to convert to 0-5V. I had to add some 3D printed strips and felt to make it respond correctly, but it seems OK.
