Digital noize woes

Hi all, I’m currently DIYing my own synth from scratch inspired by LMNC and learning a hell of a lot. Following the series Modular in a week which is excellent and I’ve had some good success. Im currently building the digital noise module based on the CD4006 - https://youtu.be/TZKxgHOUrLE

and https://electro-music.com/forum/phpbb-files/psuedo_191.gif

Using a simple LM358 oscillator as a clock source and it initially worked, but now the output of the 4006 cuts out at any clock frequency very quickly. The only way to reset is to cycle the power. Worried the CD4006 is probably toast as it wasn’t cheap. Don’t want it to be unreliable so wondering if anyone knows any sensible alternatives for a relative novice (arduino is ok for this) or cheap sources of the CD4006! Cheers

Check electronics stores locally. They will typically stock CD series CMOS ICs including the 4006. Just call and ask if they have it and for how much. It should not cost more than $1.
