Banned from electro-music due to some glitch

This is a rather unusual request for the members of this forum but, at this point, I don’t know what else I can do…

About a week ago I noticed that I cannot access the electro-music forum at all. Not only as a registered member, but, at all. When I click on a link in Google search for example, I get a message saying that I was banned from the forum and that I should contact the administrators. I am not using a VPN and haven’t done anything unusual since this random ban was placed on my IP, so I assume it’s some random glitch of the forum. A search online in other forums and in electro-music itself (yes, I can access the discussions through Google translate option… something I found out from a discussion in another forum), revealed that this has been happening on and off to people due to some glitch, and, in the past, the moderators were able to fix it quickly.

I emailed the administrators about a week ago, but got no response. At this point, I am not even sure they are checking their emails, or whether my email went to some spam folder or something. So… wild suggestion: Is there a chance that anyone knows any of the administrators personally and can send them a quick email to look at this issue?

I don’t sorry. What probably happened is just that the mods were getting hammered with bots or something and you were caught in the crossfire.
If you sent them a message, maybe give it some time. A lot of folks who moderate are doing it in their spare time and not relentlessly checking things. Maybe they set aside some time and review things and your message will be seen and addressed.

Does your ISP use “CGNAT” for your IP address. If so your at the mercy of sharing an IP with a theoretical 65535 other peopel on that ISP.

Do an IP lookup “www.ipchicken.com
And check it agaist a blacklist site Email Blacklist Check - IP Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted

It doesn’t appear blacklisted anywhere.

I understand that people are doing it out of their own free time and, of course, I am not expecting lightning speed replies, but they never responded to emails in the past, and I think they might not respond now either.

I have had exactly the same problem since last November.

I don’t know if I upset the moderators, because my only post there was to complain about their lack of security.

When I registered for my account, they sent me a confirmation email CONFIRMING MY PASSWORD IN PLAIN TEXT !

This was
a) unnecessary
b) insecure as unencrypted emails could be read by anyone, and
c) shows that they store passwords in their plain form rather than as a hashed version, meaning that their whole user base is vulnerable to hacking.

A pretty amateurish outfit, even if it is run by volunteers.

I was banned too unless I used a VPN based in the UK, now I’m completely banned but that’s for a different reason.

This thread on mod wiggler shows that this has been a problem for years. One user reported waiting for two months, and the administrators didn’t respond.

I have been browsing the forum for years. There are many interesting and useful discussions there. It’s a shame the administrators are not responsive.

They were quick enough to boot me off

This happened to me on electro-music 2 years ago. i couldn’t even access the login page, just “your banned” or something to that effect. I didn’t bother contacting the mods and a few months later the ban was lifted so who knows:man_shrugging:

I was banned from a Roland forum for upsetting an angry group of techno producers when I quoted Tom Learer’s “Rock and Roll and other childrens records”.

The flaming feedback was so intense I had to kill my email account. I wrote to Roland who apologised and sent me a sticker.
