Old PS 3 came my way. Looked like a simple fix and might be fun to mod. It wasn’t. It’s like keyhole surgery with chopsticks and a blindfold.
Does anyone have an actual service manual out there. Found lots of click bait but no PDF.
Im also a tad annoyed at how stingy some people are with manuals and schematics; as if they have some sacred covenant with the manufacturer to keep their secrets from the unworthy. It’s over 35 years since the PS 3 came out and still no one wants to share.
Back in the old days I shared because that’s what you did. If you were sad enough to have an early Mac you could borrow my 50cm T15 anytime.
What is wrong with the world. God I feel old.
So tech/service manual for a Yamaha portasound PS 3… anyone?
I found it at

The link was via a search in the vintagesynth forum.
@Bitnik you are a 'king star!! Many thanks.
You can borrow my stupidly long T15 any time
You dropped this
Ah yes… I think you missed the apostrophe.
I was being polite
Seriously though once I found the right forum it was a doddle. I recommend it to anybody interested in sharing scarce knowledge about old gear.
It took me a while to work out what this T15 was, @Farabide . A brief web search throws up such alternatives as Russian heavy infantry fighting vehicle, a rather expensive ThinkPad, and a network firewall appliance.
Finally I find this:
Since that item is a screwdriver with a 30cm shaft (12 inch approx for those still using old money), I feel confident in thanking you for offering me the use of your magnificent tool.
I mean, 50cm! That’s going to reach all those hard-to-get-at parts.
