Oh, I remember those! They are awesome!
It appears I’m not the only one with great monitors. What do other people use?
(I was talking about the Genelecs).
I also have a pair of vintage Klein & Hummel OY, but that is yet another lockdown repair project.
I bought a pair of 1030a’s maybe 15 years ago for my studio and I still love their sound. A few weeks ago I got myself a set of 8030s which replace the s#@*ty speakers (pardon my language) I had connected to my workstation in my hobby room. They really make me enjoy listening to music again.
I’m not yet sure if this makes sense but I’ll build a multiple LFO module next and had the idea to use XLRs as the housing for a vactrol.
Nice one! Would love to know how that works out.
Clever idea. Please keep us posted.
I found that only with this specific type of XLR female (Neutrik black) it was easy to remove the contact sockets without damaging the whole thing completely.
XLR isn’t the only kind of enclosed connector. There may be types of connector that work better for this.
I (ex-PA engineer) just have so many XLRs lying around. The 3mm LEDs fit perfectly. Part of the idea is that they will blink with different frequencies and waveforms. I hope the slew rate of the LDR isn’t to big. We’ll see.
Made the panel for the dual LFO + special Vactrol module today. Not bad but not enough space between the knobs for my taste. I wanted some switches below the XLR first, that’s why I put them so close to each other . The circuit will be the one from MFOS.
It’s beautiful @TrapaNatans . Can’t wait to see it in action.
yes nice work @TrapaNatans, how do you use the vactrol plz ?
EDIT : a way : an LDR inside the other part of the XLR socket, but it need 2 wires at the end with 2 male jacks and use it like a VCA …? i wait for your explain …
you make some nice clean looking stuff .
Needs more hieroglyphics. There should at the very least be a wistful crocodile.
I love the hieroglyphics on your designs. @Bitnik : proposal is under consideration
Actually I think it was a random Pratchettism. Terry Pratchett wrote a novel, Pyramids, set in a version of Pharaonic Egypt.
I like pictograms. There should be more functional signage on synth panels. I think the crocodile should be on the filter cutoff input. Its wistful expression denotes the search for the perfect reptilian growl. Or possibly a nagging toothache.
