I’m looking for a reliable breadboard. I only own those cheap china breadbords and they giving me a really hard time. I’m working on a VCO and tuning it is nearly impossible. Resistance is changing all the time when I touch the board, contacts get lost and it’s hard to debug. Trimpots with small legs are the worst!
Do you have any tips for me what to buy? I watched some Youtube videos about this topic but it seems the good ones are only available in the US. What about jumper wires? Maybe I need to improve there as well?
I use only the cheap china breadboards. While they are far from perfect - I haven’t had such a bad experience with them. Sure they wear out quickly. And yes jumper wires are important for these cheap boards. Squared tipped wires (like pin headers) are the worst. Honestly just solid core wires are the best.
It looks like you have the round tipped wires, they work alright for me.
Yeah I usually always start nice and neat with cut solid core wires, but eventually it turns in a huge spaghetti mess.
I think small changes in resistance are usually not a problem. But this is 1V/Oct so tiny changes have a huge impact on the frequency of the oscillator.
I can vouch for the Jameco ones, but, yeah, doubt they can be had in Europe. BTW, I’d like to propose that anytime you are about to say “cheap Chinese X” you just say “cheap X”. The fact that it was assembled in China is irrelevant. Items of all levels of quality are and equating “Chinese” with cheap is at best ignorant.
