Power Supply Unit

You’re welcome. Just to avoid any confusion, I am recommending a 15V AC transformer to power 12v DC power supply. The regulator will dissipate more heat/power as a result, but a reasonably-sized heatsink should prevent any problems. Regulators like the LM317 or 7812 can easily cope with the higher input voltage.

You may need a physically bigger/higher wattage transformer - remember, Watts = Volts x Amps (only for resistive loads, strictly speaking). A 12V 12Watt transformer will give you 1 amp, as will a 15V 15VA transformer. Think of VA as Watts in this case.
