Multimeter recommendation

What is this, a late 90’s geocities page?

@ChristianBloch Now that you’ve had it for a while, how’s the Borbede Digital Multimeter BD-99? I love the Aneng because it is spot on the same as the Fluke measurements but it is s - l - o - w sometimes. Does the BD-99 also act slow?

I like it, no slowness that I’ve perceived. Only complaint is that it’s a little aggressive about it’s auto shut-off. Like, I’ll be taking measurements and all of a sudden it beeps at me to let me know it thinks I’m not doing anything. I think it should be able to tell that stuff going into it is changing even if I’m not pressing buttons or switching modes. I’d say it’s something like 10 minutes, so not a huge issue, just a little annoying that it doesn’t stay on indefinitely when I’m actively using it.

AstroAI DM6000AR does the same. Also it beeps too much: turn the selector knob, it beeps; push a button, it beeps… But those are my only quibbles.

I don’t care that much if the auto-ranging needs a bit of time, that’s a bit you get what you pay for and I’d rather have them spend the component budget on better resolution (higher “count”). The continuity mode needs to be snappy, though.

kind of ironic this .00 measurement for music . when the bloke who started us on this journey had a bunch of strip boarded half working defiantly not in tune modules , but it was still music . yeah we are here because Sam’s up graded his game and we are trying too also , but as it was said if it sounds good its good …

A multimeter hack i did some days ago, I’ve added 2 dupont connectors

Now I can directly measure resistances

Or plug a jack

(on which I also soldered dupont cables)

It’s simple but it saves me a lot of time  I had to take the battery out to do this but it’s fine.

Wouldn’t they have fitted there ?
So you could have kept the battery inside.

Whoa neat mod! Are the reading accurate still?

Nop, because of the PCB

Yes, but i didnt try to use both connectors in the same time

I thought this was interesting:

(and it agrees with my attitude with regard to Fluke meters for home and hobby purposes)

I totally agree.

When i was studying to be an aircraft technician, we used fluke meters exclusively. (I was studying to be a mechanic but we did electrical systems as well)
Our textbooks and also the aircraft manuals would always describe procedures using fluke meters.

They are accurate, dependable, but way too expensive for a hobbyist.

I currently have 3 of the cheap black ones that get rebranded a lot. I paid 4 euros each and the only thing i don’t like is them not being true rms meters. That is, for home/hobby purposes.
