Aparently they were delayed getting the stock when I asked the other day
Very interestedā¦

Just waiting on some stuff to make a buss board next =)
A VCLFO10 and a One Shot Event Generator chips from Electric Druid.
For another VCLFO and the Bounce Bounce ⦠for the future case 5.
Also another package from @eric with the DAC ino PCB and panel for Quantizer module from @analogoutput .
Thanks a lot @eric !!!
When I saw the panel in +, I told myself that it was really very beautiful and really more beautiful than my painted wooden DIY panels, but my aesthetic side told me that I still did not want to see a different panel in the middle of the others in my case.
Actually iām sorry but i wouldnāt use it, no matter how nice it is, so if someone is interested in a single Quantizer panel, let me know, I will send it. (iām in france )
Here for the uniform panel aesthetic!
Thought I would treat myself, as in addition to the big soldering station at home I needed something half decent for the workshop I rent.
Looks nice!
My soldering iron is shit, the tip no longer melts solder so I have to do everything a bit up from the tip at an angle, which make precise soldering really tough.
Anybody have any tips on how to refurbish the end of mine? Can I just get a metal file and file it down to a point again, or do I just need to try to order a new endpiece? I try to clean it with a sponge after every blob, but even that hasnāt done the trick.
Iām afraid you have to order a new tipā¦
Filing it to a point will remove the plating, and then it gets worse each time you use itā¦
That can be viable while waiting for the replacement to arrive, but no more.
Interesting recent review of a new TS100 competitor
Replacement tips are cheap. Iāve screamed at too many refurbish vids. Some even talking sanding etc. (All rubbish - when itās gone itās gone)
If itās just got dirty then flux paste and solder will clean it. Just dip hot iron in flux, wipe, then add solder, wipe and repeat many times until clean.
This has been my method (despite the clickbait image), as well as trying to leave a blob of solder on the tip when Iām done.
@twinturbo, that is the same iron I use.
I found my TS100 to be more than just āhalf decentā. I bought it on a whim just to use as a field iron ⦠but after testing it out found I liked it more than my Hakko clone station. Now the station gathers dust and the TS100 gets used on everything. It heats faster, can transfer heat quicker, and actually feels better in my hand (which really surprised me as just looking at it I thought the ergonomics would be terrible.)
My only complaint is that the cord on the power supply that came with mine is annoyingly stiff and short. But thatās easily solved with a different power supply.
Ok, a slightly better tip selection would be nice as well, I wish there was a smaller chisel tip available. Or at least a real chisel and not just a cut off cone. The only chisel they have is too chunky for me so I use the cut off cone.
The rod diameter is standard for that type of iron so you could have a go at the cheap generic tips available on aliexpress for the āphone repairā market.
The TS100 tips? Theyāre not just tips like a normal iron, theyāre integrate cartridges with the heating element and temp sensor (one of the reasons why they work so well.) Iāve used generic tips on my hakko clone and actually found some that I like much better than legit hakko tips on there. But for the TS-100 I havenāt found many generic options and none with the shape/size chisel I like.
I have seen people use JBC cartridges on the TS100 but the ergonomics donāt work out very well.
And honestly the more time I spend with the cut off conical tip the more I get used to it, in some ways itās more flexible than a chisel. But for some SMD touch up work I just find it too clunky compared to my old hakko chisel and the fine tipped conical I have (The TS-ILS) is too fiddly and fine. I liked the chisel for SMD work since I could turn it sideways and it was almost as thin as a conicalā¦but had more mass so held more heat. The fine tip conical just doesnāt have enough mass in the tip and doesnāt transfer heat for me as well.
I guarantee there are TS100 tips out there. Cheap and generic. It is how this type of iron came to exist⦠an off shoot of the vape boom I think.
