Voice as CV for Megadrone

Hi all. I had a crazy idea after listening to some Author and Punisher. I would like to use my voice as a CV. I have got some old CB desk microphones that I have used with some Eurorack gear. It would be interesting to use it to modulate the Megadrone. Maybe I should just try hooking it up and see what happens.

Easiest way I can think of is a vactrol (cheapo led and a photoresistor hack) + passive attenuator to control the input + peizo.

depends on what part of the voice you want to convert to cv… An envelope follower comes to mind, but controller by pitch would be more involved.

Harald Antes has a couple of approaches to frequency to voltage converters:

Apparently both also need the input signal converted to a pulse train

Thanks for all the replies. I have found an envelope follower circuit on Eddy Bergman.com (see the link). I am going to modify it to my needs.

The following is my mod of the circuit.

I breadboarded the circuit above without the lowpass filter section. It works but not very exciting. I will continue with it another day.

The low pass is mostly what makes it an envelope follower…
