One thing I still would like to sort is the full 0-5V to the CV but that does not stop the present plans of action.
The CSP mojo is back in gear. ( the panel miss hap coincided with a draining few weeks at work so it got put to one side )
When it’s ready, may be better to get a willing US participant to do a limited distro rather than flying multiple boxes across the Atlantic… lets see how we get on!
Is the problem that the panel has been printed on the “wrong” side? If it were mine I’d just try to wire it up so it actually functions and accept it for the way it is. I’m supposed to be right handed but I find that my left hand is pretty good at the stuff my right hand does, as long as left and right are reversed.
"Oh my God is that?..“
“What? My early run twinturbo cheapstep? Yah. There’s only a few of these ‘mirrored’ modules ever made. A serious collector once offered thousands for it. But no. Ive never even powered it up!”
Ok made a mistake in running the switches from +5v… It means that when they are off the line is floating on the digital pin and you can’t use INPUT_PULLUP as that only works with a GND switch… Added some 10K frankenstine resistors to pull down the line and that works ok.
So the Digital inputs are almost tested. I should have done that on the last Brain board but I think I need to slow down a bit…
Got a week off and nowhere to got, got a list of things I realy should complete on the ( House, Pond, Cars , Synth, I.T. , Etc… ) so hope to get this one progressed to final hardware stage this week…
Rough and ready clock now being generated from the nano and being received by the Mega. Will try and finish off the two remaining control boards this afternoon and then see if I can get a full 32-step to run.
Decided to finish the last two (early version) control boards today. I thought I may as well use them and have a set that works before building the improved “Final” version…
So I soldered the 20Pin header on the wrong side of the control board (x2) and what should have been 30-40 mins work lasted 2 hrs just to complete one…
Will finish the other later… will be building another Flashing cube out of the rest of the brain boards as there are potentially too many tiny issues to “Make Do”… Guess I have christmas sewn up
Even gives out CV’s to the VCO and VCA, the combined 32 step outputs worked a treat on the brain board … Been having a rest from electronics this week as off work for the first time since October (excluding weekends)…
Still questioning myself on how useful the analog input may bee for cutting the notes.
Strarted on the I2C Mux displays yesterday, had a few issues.
Firstly I know there is a missing trace on the old brain board for one control board. but testing 3 out of 4 will be fine.
then I found that the SDA line on the sub bord for the control was also missing a trace due to an incorrect lable in KICAD. It took me ages to determine that as KICAD was not loading.
When I finaly got it all hooked up, and found my old test code for the MUX… It just did not work right.
I took all the core components and put them on a standalone UNO and it still did not work right.
After a bit more research, I found my code was garbage for the mux output selection. Obviously my previous test code was not what I thought it was.
After that things worked as expected, but time was up as it was virtual pub night…
Going out to the lakes today to get some air and excerise so may not have time to do more…
Stalled due to time pressure at present, I had to move all my design files off my old work laptop onto my DAW PC, and I have just been busy with sorting out my workshop/office.
The bigest slowdowns was caused by not working from home and so not having my twin monitor setup right next to me in the kitchen.
I now have 3x2 monitor setup though ( DAW, Work, Test)… Just need to find timeat lunch and in the evenings to focus.
I don’t know what volume of files you’re talking about, but have you considered putting thrm off-site? Github and Bitbucket are commonly used for the purpose, and the latter permits you to store private data free of charge. They’re not only for text source files. I’ve literally had laptops smashed against the wall, borrowed another computer and carried on with my work within minutes. Sometimes I have worked on a project from my phone and carried on on the laptop when I got home.
Minimal number and size, but when I move from the “work” end of the desk to the “play” end of the desk, the last thing I really want to do is more I.T. Infrastructure work.
