Dual VCO with auto tune and MIDI

With the CD4013B the output matches the input right? I just had this same issue.

Do you have a resistor between the inverted out and data input? 56k is suggested on the crave subOsc thread. And I’ve seen people also suggesting adding a small capacitor between data and ground as well as the resistor to filter / debounce.

Weirdly, I found the my clock divider (running at 531khz) started working when I touched my scope probe to the output, so I grabbed a 4.7nf ceramic cap and jammed it between Q and ground and it started to behave.

Hi, yes I built the crave design using the 2n3904 and half a 4013BE as I wanted a single sub oscillator, I have 3 possible 4013 chips to test, plus I’ve just ordered 4 different ones from a reputable supplier.

After some testing I have two RCA 4013AE and BE chips thats work and half a dozen Ti 4013BE chips that do not work at all. The ones that do not work generate a +12V signal with the occasional glitch to 0V in it.

Even the RCA 4013BE struggles to settle down into a squarewave output.

Only other thing is that I’m driving this with a Triangle wave, I might change to the Sawtooth for a test. Tested and still the same, triangle or sawtooth input gives the same results.

OK, the fix is to make sure your RST or CLR pins are grounded, its not clear in the crave sub oscillator diagrams, but I just grounded pins 4 and 10 and it works with all chips.
