Circuit Benders Corner

Another project I had done

Circuit bending of a STYLOPHONE BEAT BOX

there were 3 steps in the modification of this toy

1 -

Add a pitch down pot
Add a push switch for Rec and Play
Add a push switch Reset
Add jack out socket

2 -

Add some screw to the beatbox, and a banana socket for ground

I made a little external box with switch for open or close each sound conected to the Beatbox with alligator clip, to be manage by my first diy gate sequencer

like here

3 -

last step re unboxig all in one box with select rotary switch for more sound select, led power indicator, volume out pot
Add another toy inside with pitch mod, led power indicator, volume pot, an LFO …

here’s with the sequencer who control also another sequencer and some toys.
we can also do some bass line (at the end of vid)

some spaggetti

@Dud - or anyone - have you ever seen one of these?
I wonder what kind of bends could be done.

Theyre kinda pricey though

i don’t know this, but it’s excellent, in any case it makes you want to open it
but it’s expensive !

There’s no noise it can make that you can’t already make. Most of these are blob dco. I’m all for a hack if there’s a performance or sound to be had or even a gimmick. But that’s way too pricey to be any fun for me.

That sequenced video rules.

mind if I ask what the process is like tempo syncing/sequencing toys? I have some ideas in my head but I’m not sure they’d work, and I’m unsure about the voltage difference between toys and modules, I assume I’d probably have to divide the incoming voltage to the toy?

These are old projects but the simplest idea I found at the time was to use a vactrol on toy switches to trigger notes or pads, it works but the best would be with transistors.
