Cast aluminum Kosmo frame

3D printed the sections to use as a ram mold with petrosand, cast with recycled aluminum cans in my backyard. I made two sets just in case. These are intended to be the L/R sidepieces to a Kosmo format two row synth rack.

That is so gnarly! Can’t wait to see it with the rack all modded up!

Utterly brilliant!
We must see more.

Thanks everyone!! Next up is figuring out how to attach the rails for all the modules to attach to. I also REALLY want to do some bronze details somewhere somehow. If youve seen the new mad max, furiosa, imagine that stainless steel bas-relief on the war rig but in bronze and with Kosmo art.

The more metal the better!

And cast front plates with all texts in relief

This would be an ideal project for electroplating brass (or gold?) on the relief. Smelly but the result is well worth it. I’ve brass plated guitar parts using a wet anode and it is emencely satisfying to paint on the shiny finish. Get a good wax polish on top to prevent oxidation. I must see more of this.

Hey everyone! Long time no update, been busy. Here is the rough fit-up of the frame, there is nothing holding the modules in place, I set them there for the photos. The modules will be held on little brackets that will slide along the aluminum rails to the appropriate spacing per module - which I will be trying to cast tonight or tomorrow - or giving up and funding thick aluminum to cut them out of. its 80cm across the rails, around 83sh cm total

Looking good.

You probably want to ensure the frame is well grounded. The urgency depends on how you intend to power the whole setup.

Cheers

resembles a mini vers old die cast park bench , looks very nce , reminds me of wrought iron too

Now there’s an idea! Picture a park bench; cast iron sides, wooden slats to sit on and, as is customary in the UK , a lovely brass commemorative plaque.
Now; add drivers to the slats so they hum, the brass a capacitative controller, hollow iron sides now trumpet amplifiers and your backside, when applied can be mute or filter on the old {Mass in relation to frequency and multiples of π consumed over time}

Add solar or deep enough earth and it might just play itself.

As you were

That’s very much what I was thinking. I’ve never been to the UK, but visiting mexico I fell in love with all the cast iron benches made by the local herreros. Recently in the US I attended a community iron pour - I had intended to do this there “Kast iron Kosmo” but my forms were bad, I didnt know enough about draft angles, and it didnt work out. I made a nice workbench seat modled off the benchcrafted one though. Now, months later, I decided to try with aluminum and I’m so pleased with the results.

Frame is now mounted on the wooden base, I thought cherry would look nice.

These are feet I cast for it, very happy with how clean they turned out.
